“Exploring Dunhuang”: Digital Reproduction of Traditional Culture Based on New Media Interactive Art
Description
"Exploring Dunhuang" is an interactive work based on new media digital art. ① Digital reproduction: At present, the 285 caves of Mogao Grottoes have been reproduced, and the internal murals, decorations and Buddha statues have been digitally restored, and popular science content has been added to realize the role of "cloud view caves" and protection of caves. ② Interaction and popular science: Participants can interact with the mural decorations by moving their bodies and observing them closely; at the same time, they can read text information to understand the meaning behind the decorations, combining popular science with interest, science and technology with art. ③ Meta-universe: Under the framework of "meta-universe", a separate immersive exhibition hall will become a node of outward divergence. The interaction between participants and the ornamentation and Buddha statues inside the 285 cave will trigger similar elements in other caves of the same period or in caves of different periods. Thus, the isolated caves are connected in series to show the whole picture of Dunhuang culture more completely. Through 3Dmax, substance painter and other tools for digital modeling of Mogao Grottoes, through Zbrush to achieve the carving of Buddha model, through TouchDesigner, Unreal Engine and other software to achieve rendering interaction.
